Ninja A-League legend seals Mexican move after earning Matildas recall: Full Details

Melbourne Victory striker Emily Gielnik has joined Liga MX Femenil side C.F. Monterrey following the conclusion of her Ninja A-League contract.

The 33-year-old departs Victory after another scintillating season in front of goal where she found the back of the net 13 times in 22 matches.

Narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot to Melbourne City’s Holly McNamara, Gielnik’s goals helped fire Victory to the Ninja A-League Grand Final 2024-25 where they were defeated by Central Coast Mariners in a penalty shootout.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football John Didulica.

“Emily has been a great servant of Melbourne Victory and she is loved and admired by everybody at the club,” said Melbourne Victory Director of Football John Didulica.

“We are thankful for the many seasons she has spent here.

“We are extremely proud that the professionalism of our women’s program has been able to build Emily back to full fitness.

He added: “It’s great to see her back to her best after her disappointment at missing the 2023 World Cup, to the point where she has won our Golden Boot, been reinstated to the Matildas, and given an opportunity to continue her career in a leading global competition.”

Back in the CommBank Matildas squad after her fruitful season in front of goal, Gielnik found the back of the net in less than two minutes in the recent 3-0 win over Slovenia at HBF Park in Perth.
