Sydney FC have signed American goalkeeper Heather Hinz ahead of the Ninja A-League 2025-26 season.
Hinz joins the Sky Blues on a one-year deal from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit Houston Dash.
The 24-year-old, who mutually parted with Houston in May having been drafted 38th in 2024, brings elite-level experience from a standout college career.

Hinz was crowned the 2023 Southeastern Conference Goalkeeper of the Year following 10 clean sheets in 20 starts – ranking first in the conference for clean sheets and save percentage during her time with South Carolina Gamecocks.
“I’m honoured to join Sydney FC—it’s a new country, a fresh environment and a challenge I’m genuinely excited for,” Hinz said.
“This club has always impressed me, and following in the footsteps of American goalkeeping greats like Aubrey Kingsbury (nee Bledsoe) and Michelle Betos is a real thrill.
“I want to learn, grow and help deliver a Championship.”
Hinz is Sydney FC’s first signing of the off-season following the re-signings of Shay Hollman, Caley Tallon-Henniker, Amber Luchtmeijer and Rubi Sullivan.

“Heather is a world class goalkeeper and with that we are extremely happy she is joining the squad,” said head coach Ante Juric.
“She will bring quality, experience and overall professionalism to the club. Her time in the NWSL has given her exposure to top-level professionals and elite competition.
“We’re confident her experience and winning mentality will elevate our standards between the posts.”
