Bulls announce departure of star winger in pursuit of overseas opportunity: ‘Memory I’ll always cherish’

Macarthur Bulls have confirmed influential winger Marin Jakolis will leave the club after one season in Campbelltown in order to take up an opportunity overseas.

Signed on a one-year deal ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2024-25 season, Jakolis starred for Mile Sterjovski’s side as he netted 10 goals and added 12 assists in a sensational season.

The Croatian winger also netted the only goal of the game as Macarthur defeated Melbourne Victory 1-0 in the 2024 Australia Cup Final.

“I’ve truly enjoyed every minute being at this club. I’m grateful to have shared it all with an amazing group of people,” said Jakolis as news of his departure was confirmed.

“Winning my first trophy with this club is a memory I will always cherish. Leaving this club isn’t easy for me. It’s been more than just a team, it’s been a family.

“Thank you to everyone who believed in me and for pushing and shaping me to be the player that I am today. I will be watching and cheering from afar.

“I wish nothing but the best for this club on and off the pitch.”

Marin Jakolis of the Bulls

Jakolis’ exit comes off the back of a series of changes made by Sterjovski and his football department ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 campaign.

Earlier this week, the Bulls announced the departures of Kevin Boli and Saif-Eddine Khaoui while the club sold defender Kealey Adamson to EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

However, they have been busy when it comes to recruitment with the Bulls enticing Socceroos midfielder Anthony Caceres to join the club from Sydney FC while also securing the services of Melbourne City Championship-winning duo Callum Talbot and Harry Politidis.

Furthermore, Socceroos midfielder Luke Brattan has signed a new one-year contract ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season while key defender Tomislav Uskok has also committed his future to the club.
