Another weekend has been disrupted by postponements due to COVID however we will still see seven out of a potential 11 A-Leagues fixtures scheduled take place over January 14 and 15.
There’s two Liberty A-League/Isuzu UTE A-League double headers getting the weekend underway on Saturday: a pair of fixtures between Adelaide United and Melbourne City will take place at Coopers Stadium, whilst Sydney FC host Canberra United and Brisbane Roar in the women’s and men’s competitions respectively at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
The Liberty A-League action rolls into Sunday with a further three fixtures set to take us to the end of the weekend.
Four A-Leagues cities will feature in the first dual Free-to-Air matches on Network TEN this Saturday night.
It’s the first time viewers in four states will get the chance to watch A-Leagues action live on TEN in the Saturday night prime time slot, with Sydney FC hosting Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City travelling to Adelaide United. All games, of course, are also on Paramount+.
The following Isuzu UTE A-League Round 10 fixtures have been postponed:
- Macarthur FC v Western United
- Central Coast Mariners v Newcastle Jets
- Perth Glory v Wellington Phoenix
- Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne Victory

LIBERTY A-LEAGUE: ADELAIDE UNITED v MELBOURNE CITY
This could be the making of Adelaide United, who’ve never qualified for the Liberty A-League finals series, after last season’s heartbreaking miss, but are well placed approaching the midway mark of the season.
A win over second-place Melbourne City would draw them level on points and make a real statement to rival teams. And the home side catches City when it’s vulnerable, with Matildas Holly McNamara and Winnonah Heatley still away on Asian Cup duty.
Key stat: Melbourne City FC have won seven of their last eight Liberty A-league games (L1), including their last three on the bounce; they have not conceded a single first-half goal in that span.

ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE: SYDNEY FC v BRISBANE ROAR
Sydney FC’s faith in discarded Melbourne Victory attacker Elvis Kamsoba has been rewarded, after he netted his fourth goal of the season in all competitions mid-week to send the Sky Blues into the FFA Cup semi-finals.
‘Acrobatic Elvis’ has been a key find for Sydney FC along with fellow mature-age signing Max Burgess, as last season’s runners-up slowly gather steam in the Isuzu UTE A-League season – a fourth successive win would keep them within touching distance of the top two.
With one goal (Luke Ivanovic) in four games, bottom-place Brisbane just needs to start scoring.
Key stat: Sydney FC are undefeated in their last seven Isuzu UTE A-League games against Brisbane Roar (W4, D3); their last defeat to the Roar came in February 2019 at Suncorp Stadium (2-1).

ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE: ADELAIDE UNITED v MELBOURNE CITY
Having finished his academy apprenticeship at Melbourne City, Bernanrdo Oliveira looms as a thorn in his former club’s side, having showed glimpses of huge promise this season.
The son of Adelaide United great Cassio has made six Isuzu UTE A-League appearances, including two starts, justifying his decision to return “home”. And he looks set to line up against City’s feisty sipper Scott Jamieson in a mouth-watering clash.
Fellow excitement machine Marco Tilio looks set to be rewarded with another start after his stunning strike against the Wanderers.
Key stat: Melbourne City have won only one of their last five Isuzu UTE A-League games (D3, L1) and have drawn their last two; the last time they drew more consecutive games was a four-game stretch in March 2012 which included a 1-1 draw with Adelaide United.

LIBERTY A-LEAGUE: SYDNEY FC v CANBERRA UNITED
Sydney FC have made an emphatic start to the season, with five wins from six games, and laden with Matildas stars, Ante Juric’s side appears to be the team to beat at this early stage.
Sharpshooter Mackenzie Hawkesby has five goals to her name – the second-most of any player league-wide – but she’s had plenty of support with the Sky Blues netting 17 goals in six games.
Last season’s finalists Canberra United need to get a move on if they want to crack the top four once again.
Key stat: Canberra United are winless in their last seven Liberty A-League games (D3, L4) – their longest stretch without a win in the history of the competition; they have failed to score a goal in four of those seven games.

LIBERTY A-LEAGUE: WELLINGTON PHOENIX v BRISBANE ROAR
It might be a battle at the basement, but there’s plenty still at stake for two sides at very different stages of development. Put together on the eve of the season, Phoenix’s inaugural women’s team have battled valiantly but found the intensity of the competition predictably hard to maintain, especially later in games.
However, this is an excellent chance to record a first win of the season against a Brisbane side painfully low on confidence and struggling after making the semifinals last season.
Key stat: This will be the first meeting between the Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar FC in the Liberty A-League; the Roar have lost both of their two previous games against teams admitted to the competition after its inaugural 2008/09 campaign.

LIBERTY A-LEAGUE: WESTERN SYDNEY v MELBOURNE VICTORY
A pivotal contest beckons at CommBank Stadium, with injury ravaged Victory fending off a Wanderers side buoyed by a first win of the season last weekend.
The reigning champions have shipped goals after suffering injuries in defence, and could be dragged into the pack if they suffer a third consecutive loss.
Western Sydney need to find goals if they are to make that happen, having scored just twice in five games, though one of those was enough to secure last weekend’s victory at Brisbane.
Key stat: Western Sydney have won just one of their 13 games against Melbourne Victory in the Liberty A-League (D6, L6); however, five of their seven meetings since that win in 2015 have ended in a draw on the day (L2).

LIBERTY A-LEAGUE: NEWCASTLE JETS v PERTH GLORY
This is an early six-pointer, with fifth-place Newcastle Jets and sixth-place Perth Glory merely separated by goal difference, with Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory just ahead of the table. Both teams have faced Covid challenges.
Emily van Egmond’s Matildas call up officially ends her short-term stint at the Jets, meaning the likes of Cassidy Davis, Sunny Franco and Norwegian Marie Dolvik Markussen will have to step up if the Jets want to play finals.
Gema Simon’s imminent return from a calf problem will help.
Key stat: The Newcastle Jets have lost only one of their last nine Liberty A-League games against Perth Glory (W4, D4) and picked up a 4-0 win when they last met in March 2021 – their biggest ever against the Glory in the competition.
