Brisbane Roar have adding some firepower to their attack ahead of the new season, signing Moldova international Virgiliu Postolachi on a two-year deal.
Postolachi, 26, joins the Roar from Romanian Superliga club Universitatea Cluj and brings with him a wealth of international experience having represented Moldova 37 times.
Born in Edineț, Moldova, Postolachi moved to France with his family as a child and joined the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2013.

He won back-to-back French under-17 championships with PSG, scoring twice in the 2017 final against Monaco, before signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2018.
Postolachi has featured for clubs across Europe including French sides Lille and Grenoble, Belgian outfit Royal Excel Mouscron and Denmark’s Vendsyssel FF before moving to Romania.
Having joined the Romanian SuperLiga the 6-foot-2 forward subsequently won the Cupa României with CFR Cluj before joining Universitatea Cluj in September 2025.

Brisbane Roar Sporting Director James Gow said Postolachi would add a different dimension to the club’s attack.
“Virgiliu’s signing brings the team a striker who can play with his back to goal, wins the ball in the air, and gives us a way of attacking heading into the season.
“He’s already shown he can score in European football and we’re very confident he can help the squad continue to build in the right direction as we inch closer to the start of the 2026/27 season.”
Postolachi said he was ready for the challenge of moving to Australia.
“I’m excited to be joining Brisbane Roar and for the new challenge of playing in Australia. I’m hungry and ready to give my all for the club and it’s fans who look forward to meeting very soon.”
Postolachi is currently en route to join his new teammates in Indonesia ahead of Brisbane Roar’s pre-season tour this week.
It’s understood the Moldovan international has been earmarked to be Brisbane Roar’s leading striker heading into the new campaign, as Head Coach Michael Valkanis looks to freshen things up following a disappointing 2025/26 season which saw them finish second-late.
Also expected to be key to Valkanis’ new-look Roar side in season 2026/27 will be former South Korea playmaker Nam Tae-hee, who has signed a one-year deal ahead of the new campaign.
Furthermore, the club has also recruited the like of German forward Marko Ilic, former Sydney FC and Socceroos defender Joel King as well as ex-Central Coast Mariners Sabit Ngor and former club captain Tom Aldred.
