Trew’s brilliant solo goal restored parity and Harada’s thunderous effort put the home side ahead as the Wanderers celebrated back-to-back wins, while extending their unbeaten run against Newcastle to five matches, dating back to 2022.
The Wanderers are now ninth in the standings through 16 rounds. As for the slumping Jets – Semi-Finalists in 2023-24, they are 10 games without a win and 11th in the table, though they could end the weekend bottom depending on Sydney FC’s result.
Newcastle made the perfect start on the road when Matildas star Prior found the back of the net for the first time in 411 days after she was on hand to tuck away the rebound having seen teammate Cassidy Davies hit the post.
