Melbourne City have locked down another key member of their title-winning squad, with Spanish goalkeeper Malena Mieres re-signing for the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
The deal will see Mieres enter her third campaign at City after playing a pivotal role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
Since arriving ahead of the 2024/25 season, the Spaniard has made 55 appearances across all competitions, helping City claim back-to-back Premierships as well as helping them clinch the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Championship.

“I’m so happy to be staying at Melbourne City for another season,” Mieres said, after news of her new contract was made official.
“From the moment I arrived, everyone at the club has made me feel at home, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of such a successful team.
She added: “We’ve achieved a lot together over the past two seasons, but we’re still hungry for more. I’m excited to get back to work with this group and do everything I can to help us achieve even more success.”
Her re-signing provides another significant boost for the reigning Premiers and Champions as they prepare to defend their domestic crowns while embarking on a third consecutive AFC Women’s Champions League campaign.

Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo said retaining Mieres was an important part of the club’s planning for the season ahead.
“Malena has been a key part of our success over the past two seasons,” Petrillo said.
“She’s an outstanding shot-stopper, but just as importantly she gives us so much with the ball at her feet. Her composure, decision-making and ability to help us build our play from the back make her a perfect fit for the way we want to play.
“We’re delighted to have Malena continue with the Club as we look to compete for more success this season.”
