Elimination Finals Ins & Outs: Victory creator back from injury, double boost for Western United

Elimination Finals, Adelaide's Watch Party & Luke Modric to the A-League? | Total A-Leagues Ep.27

The teams are IN ahead of two must-watch Elimination Finals this weekend, as Western United host Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers take on Melbourne Victory in two blockbuster knockout clashes.

Western United head coach John Aloisi has added Hiroshi Ibusuki and experienced defender Tate Russell to his Elimination Final squad in a big boost ahead of Friday night’s meeting with the Reds at Ironbark Fields.

Adelaide will be without their top scorer Archie Goodwin for the Elimination Final due to a hamstring injury suffered in the penultimate round of the regular season.

Goodwin, who scored 13 goals to share the Isuzu UTE A-League Golden Boot with Sydney FC’s Adrian Segecic this season, is a significant loss for Reds head coach Carl Veart, who is expected to deploy fellow young striker Luka Jovanovic as his starting striker in Tarneit on Friday night.

Western Sydney head coach Alen Stajcic has called Mohamed Al-Taay and Jack Clisby into his extended squad as the Wanderers look to go 13 games unbeaten to equal the club’s all-time undefeated streak as they take on Victory at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night.

Victory, meanwhile, welcome creative midfielder Reno Piscopo back into the selection fold after an injury layoff but will be without Young Socceroo Alexander Badolato for the trip to CommBank Stadium; Badolato is on loan from the Wanderers and is ineligible to face his parent club.
