Brisbane coach John Aloisi admitted his side failed to make the most of their opportunities but was encouraged by Roar’s stirring comeback during Friday night’s 3-2 defeat to Melbourne Victory.

Trailing by three to a rampant Victory at AAMI Park, Roar fought back to within a goal by half-time of the five-goal epic but fell just short of a morale-boosting result.
“Under the circumstances, going 3-0 down at a place like Victory’s home ground, I thought we still believed in what we were doing,” Aloisi told Fox Sports.
“We played some really good football, scored good goals and created a lot of opportunities.
“Disappointed in the result but … I thought it was a positive performance.”
Brisbane appeared in the mood to continue their comeback in the opening moments of the second stanza but struggled to slice the home side open following Besart Berisha’s dismissal.
“At the beginning of the second half I thought we were doing well. We were gaining momentum,” Aloisi said.
“We felt we could run all over (Victory). But the red card, oddly enough, actually suited them because that made them defend a little bit deeper.
“They stop-started the game so it became very scrappy.
“But we still have to do better – we have to move the ball quicker and try to create chances when a team sits off like that.”
