John Aloisi’s response to question over his future: ‘You just don’t know’

Will John Aloisi be at Western United next season? The Socceroos legend is “not sure yet”.

Aloisi fronted the media after Sunday’s 6-2 demolition of in-form Newcastle Jets in the Isuzu UTE A-League – a result that took high-flying Western within just four points of league-leading Auckland FC.

The 49-year-old, who guided the Green and Black to their maiden Championship in 2021-22, is out of contract at the end of the current season – a campaign which has seen a youthful and exciting Western emerge as a genuine title contender in 2024-25.

After celebrating a fourth consecutive win, Aloisi was asked if he would still be at Ironbark Fields in 2025-26 or if there was potential for an opportunity abroad, having also been touted as potentially the next head coach of the CommBank Matildas.

“Not sure yet,” he told reporters.

“At the moment, I hope I’m still going to be at Western United. But you just don’t know what’s around the corner.

“My focus is completely on this season and making sure we finish the season well, and see where it takes us.”
