All-time A-Leagues record toppled in ridiculous goalscoring weekend

Round 23 of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season has gone down in history as the highest-scoring single round in the competition’s 20-year history – a record clinched before the final game of the weekend began.

A staggering total of 31 goals hit the back of the net in the first five games of Round 23 – a weekend highlighted by Macarthur Bulls’ remarkable 5-4 win over Adelaide United on Friday night, and Western United’s 6-2 rout of Newcastle Jets on Sunday afternoon.

Western United striker Michael Ruhs scored the record-breaking goal with his side’s sixth goal in their demolition of the Jets.

Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix then rounded out the weekend’s action with a 1-1 draw extending the record to 33 goals across six Round 23 games.
