After his debut goal, Jets attacking midfielder Ryan Kitto feels the shackles have been broken at the goal-shy club following Sunday’s impressive 3-1 win over Phoenix at Hunter Stadium.
With the Hyundai A-League record for failing to score hanging over Newcastle going into this Round 15 clash, the Jets went to the break 2-0 up and thereby avoided that unwanted stat.
Scott Miller’s men nabbed a third and held on after a 58th minute red card to midfielder Ben Kantarovski to see off a fast-finishing Phoenix and take three precious points.

It was Kitto who got the scoring started followed by a Milos Trifunovic penalty, before David Carney late in the second half sealed the deal.
Phoenix substitute Matthew Ridenton’s late effort was some consolation for the visitors inside the final ten minutes.
Kitto, signed from Adelaide United this season, was ecstatic after the game.
“The most important thing was we got a win,” he told ABC Radio Grandstand.
“To experience my first win was special and I really hope there’s more to come.”
“We’ve been creating chances in these last few weeks and once we got one, you could see we ended up scoring three.
“Hopefully in the coming weeks it’ll be raining goals and we can put a real show for the [Jets] fans… it feels good when you win.”
The Jets next face Perth Glory this Sunday at Hunter Stadium.
