Brisbane Roar 3-2 Perth Glory

Brisbane Roar snapped a three-game losing streak and breathed life into their Hyundai A-League finals hopes after a 3-2 win over Perth Glory on Thursday night to kick off the round.

In an entertaining clash at Suncorp Stadium, Glory came from behind on two occasions before substitute Brett Holman landed the killer blow 17 minutes from time.

Western Sydney Wanderers 0-3 Melbourne Victory

Victory warmed up for this week’s Australia Day Big Blue with a classy 3-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Friday night.

Besart Berisha scoring his side’s second and providing a classy assist for the opener for Kosta Barbarouses, who scored twice to confirm a super win for Kevin Muscat’s men.

Newcastle Jets 2-3 Wellington Phoenix

Tenth-placed Wellington Phoenix shocked second-placed Newcastle Jets with a thrilling 3-2 win in the Hunter on Saturday.

Keeper Lewis Italiano was in great form as recruit Matija Ljujic and defender Daniel Mullen put the visitors 2-0 up at the break.

The Jets immediately hit back after the break before Phoenix made it 3-1 courtesy of the excellent Roy Krishna (while Nigel Boogaard was off the pitch getting treatment).

Dimi Petratos with a late penalty but Phoenix held on as their revival gains momentum.

Sydney FC 1-1 Central Coast Mariners

Hyundai A-League leaders Sydney FC recovered from a goal down at the break to draw 1-1 with an impressive Central Coast Mariners at Allianz on Saturday night.

In Graham Arnold’s 100th game in charge of Sydney, it was the Mariners who caught the eye with an enterprising display.

But the class of Bobo saved the home side with his second-half goal after Blake Powell’s early penalty for the visitors.

Melbourne City 5-0 Adelaide United

Melbourne City defeated Adelaide United 5-0 to consolidate their finals hopes though Sunday’s win at was soured by a bad injury to City youngster Nathaniel Atkinson. 

City’s Dario Vidosic with two late goals – including a contender for goal of the season – and City substitute Ross McCormack with another super strike sealed a fabulous day for Warren Joyce’s men. 

Earlier two goals in four minutes to Polish marquee Marcin Budzinski gave City a 2-0 half-time lead.
