All Whites forward outlines ‘big ambition’ after inking new Auckland FC deal: ‘Can’t wait to go again’

Auckland FC have tied down a key member of their Isuzu UTE A-League 2024-25 Premiership winning squad, handing forward Logan Rogerson a new two-year contract.

The 27-year-old finished the campaign as the Black Knights joint-leading goalscorer, bagging nine goals during the club’s inaugural season as they lifted the Premiers Plate.

Furthermore, Rogerson added two assists as he became a central part of head coach Steve Corica’s plans playing alongside the likes of fellow forwards Guillermo May and Max Mata.

“I’m loving being back in New Zealand, loving this team, the fans, and what we have created. I’m settled here, happy here and can’t wait to go again,” said Rogerson after signing on for a further two years.

“Things have really worked out. Steve, Terry (McFlynn) and the coaches have a real vision for what we can achieve as a club and although we didn’t go all the way last season, that defeat will ensure we push even harder this season.”

Aside from being both settled and in-form for the Black Knights, a key factor in Rogerson’s decision to extend his stay in Auckland is the goal of earning a spot in the All Whites squad for next year’s 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“Playing in a World Cup is obviously a big ambition of mine, playing regularly with Auckland FC gives me the best chance of fulfilling that ambition.”

Recruited by the club having spent time in Armenia and Finland, Rogerson has proved to be another success for Auckland FC’s football department who pieced together the Black Knights squad that won the Premiership and were defeated in the semi-finals.

“Steve Corica and I were big admirers of Logan,” said Auckland FC Director of Football, Terry McFlynn.

“He fit the profile of the sort of player we were after, but also had just the right attitude and temperament. He’s got no ego, just wants to play football and wants to win.

“He was a big part of our success last season, a big favourite with the fans, and we’re delighted to have him locked in for another two years.”
