Perth Glory hand talented midfielder new 2-year deal after impressive breakout season

Perth Glory have secured the future of one of their most talented young players, handing midfielder Will Freney a new two-year contract extension.

After making his Isuzu UTE A-League debut in Round nine against Brisbane Roar, the 19-year-old went on to play a further 10 games in the competition, seven of which came as a starter under head coach David Zdrilic.

“Last season was my first year in professional football, which was really exciting,” Freney said after signing his new deal.

“I feel like I learned and grew so much as a player, putting me in the best spot going into next season.

“The direction the club is moving in makes me excited to be a part of it.

“I feel like the philosophy and brand of football that the coaching staff are trying to instil in us suits me as a player and that the environment and team that is being created will really help me grow as a player and a person.

“I love playing at HBF Park and seeing all of our great fans turn up in numbers every week. Going into next season, my aim is to build on how I finished last year.

“I feel like I finished the season really well and I just want to keep improving and be a part of the solution to help the club move up the table, like our fans deserve.”

The re-signing of Freney is the latest piece of business completed by Glory as they bid to improve upon their 13th placed finish in the Isuzu UTE A-League 2024-25 campaign.
