Brisbane Roar made a double transfer swoop over the weekend, signing former Sydney FC left-back Joel King and Central Coast Mariners attacker Sabit Ngor on two-year deal.
25-year-old King arrives in Brisbane after making more than 125 A-League appearances across eight seasons with Sydney FC, where he won two Championships and a Premiership.
King also earned international recognition during his time with the Sky Blues, making his Socceroos debut in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Vietnam in 2022 before later being named in Australia’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“I’m really excited to be joining Brisbane Roar,” said the former Sydney FC defender after signing his new deal.
“It’s a massive opportunity for me and one that I’m really grateful for.
He added: “Brisbane is a club with a huge history and passionate supporters, so it’s pretty special to be able to represent a club like this.”
King becomes another addition to Brisbane’s squad rebuild ahead of the new campaign, with Sporting Director James Gow highlighting the defender’s experience and leadership qualities.

“Joel brings a wealth of A-League experience, has represented Australia at senior international level and still has his best years ahead of him,” Gow said.
“We’re really pleased to bring him to Brisbane and look forward to seeing the impact he can make both on and off the pitch.”
Joining King at Suncorp Stadium is former Mariners forward Ngor, who has also put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old attacker finished the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign as the Mariners’ top scorer, netting six goals in 25 appearances.
Prior to joining Central Coast, Ngor enjoyed a successful spell in Finland with Tampereen Ilves, registering five goals and four assists across 29 appearances.
“I’m really excited to be signing for Brisbane Roar. It’s a fantastic club with a proud history, and from the conversations I’ve had, it was clear that the ambitions of the club align with my own.
“I’m looking forward to getting started, meeting the fans, and giving everything I can to help the team achieve success.”
Sporting Director Gow believes the acquisition of Ngor is one that will add plenty to Brisbane’s forward line.
“He’s an attacking player who we see playing mostly wide, however Sabit’s versatility is important, giving us options across the front line.
“Sabit has shown real pace and power and a proven eye for goals across multiple seasons.”
King will wear the number 16 shirt for the 2026-27 season, while Ngor has been handed the number 19 jersey.
