Aged 20 years and 178 days, Goodwin now becomes the youngest ever winner of the award after overtaking Perth Glory and Subway Socceroos striker Adam Taggart, who won the Golden Boot in 2013-14 with Newcastle Jets aged 20 years and 315 days.
Meanwhile, joint-top scorer Segecic also moves into third on the all-time list, coming in at 20 years and 337 days old.

The duo both registered 13 goals apiece as they held off late challenges from Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Nicolas Milanovic and Western United’s Noah botic, both of whom scored 12 goals during the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
For Goodwin, the award caps off a stellar first season in South Australia under the tutelage of outgoing Reds head coach Carl Veart.

Having previously struggled with injuries during his time at boyhood club Newcastle Jets, Goodwin made the move to Adelaide in the off-season and hasn’t looked back; cementing himself as first-choice striker at the club and scoring goals for fun.
Scoring on his debut for the club during Unite Round, Goodwin went on to score seven goals in his next 10 Isuzu UTE A-League matches, a run which ultimately helped his side qualify for this season’s Finals Series.
For Segecic, the 2024-25 season has been something of a whirlwind.
Predominantly deployed as a winger and/or number 10, the 20-year-old bagged two goals in the group stages of Sydney FC’s AFC Champions League Two campaign in the early part of the season before then catching fire towards the turn of the year.
From mid-December onwards Segecic scored five goals in five league matches including a stunning hat-trick against Central Coast Mariners in January, a feat achieved having come off the bench as a second-half substitute.
But if that was impressive, what he did next was even better as the young attacker then went on a run of scoring eight goals in seven matches across both the Isuzu UTE A-League ACL Two competitions.
Finishing the season with 20 goals in all competitions, Segecic has enjoyed a fine breakout season and it’s no surprise his name is being linked with a moves overseas.
After missing out on the finals series by just one point, Segecic may well have played his last game for the club with his contract set to expire at the end of June.
