Sydney FC head coach Ufuk Talay believes young gun Adrian Segecic will “definitely” leave should an overseas opportunity present itself after the Sky Blues’ Isuzu UTE A-League season came to an abrupt end on Saturday.
Segecic has enjoyed a standout campaign for the Sky Blues, earning a share of the Golden Boot lead with 13 goals, however, the 20-year-old sensation is out of contract at the end of this term.

Asked about the Australian talent’s future, Talay told reporters: “Look, we definitely want to keep Adrian.
“But I think the season he’s had and what he’s produced, for him personally it’s a great opportunity to have an opportunity to go overseas if that comes to fruition.
“I believe that he will definitely take that chance if it does show itself.
“But at the end of the day, if he is going to stay in our competition, he will definitely like to stay with us.”

Talay was also quizzed on his own future at Sydney FC.
There has been plenty of speculation over Talay’s future in the Harbour City, where he guided the Sky Blues to an historic AFC Champions League Two semi-final in his first full season in charge.
However, Sydney missed out on the Isuzu UTE A-League’s top six.

Amid reports he has re-signed for another two seasons, Talay said: “Yeah, it’s not 100% confirmed.
“But for me, we will always review the season. Firstly I always looked at myself anyway after a result. Was it the right game plan? Did we select the right players?
“We will review the whole season and the Champions league as well.
“It’s one of those things where you review the season and we will make decisions with players coming off contract and players who are contracted.”

When one reporter asked if confirmation of Talay’s new deal was close, the Sydney boss replied: “Yeah, definitely.
“This season has been a challenging season. It’s a bit of a transition season too with some younger players coming through too and the strategy changing with us providing a lot more opportunities for some younger players.
“We all understand the landscape in Australia and where we fit in the landscape of world football. We’re trying to produce our own and our own players from our academy. I think the club’s been quite successful in that manner and we want to continue that.
“At the same time, we want to provide opportunities where we can sell players overseas and make everything sustainable as well.”
