Interim Glory boss gives update on Perth’s search for new coach

Perth Glory’s interim head coach Adam Griffiths believes the Isuzu UTE A-League club are not in a hurry to make a permanent appointment.

Griffiths has stepped into the hot seat after David Zdrilic was dismissed by Glory last month and Perth are still searching for a new head coach.

Former CommBank Socceroos boss and current Iraq coach Graham Arnold and ex-Yokohama F.Marinos coach Patrick Kisnorbo have been linked with the vacancy.

As Perth prepare for Sunday’s Isuzu UTE A-League showdown against Newcastle Jets, Griffiths was quizzed on the situation.

GLORY CANDIDATES: Who could replace David Zdrilic at Perth Glory?

“I haven’t interviewed (for the job),” Griffiths told reporters when asked about the Perth vacancy.

“But at the moment, I don’t think the club is in a hurry to make a rash decision.

“So what I’m expecting, same as any other coach, is performance and results. That’s all I care about.”

Asked if he felt he was a step closer to becoming the permanent coach with every day that passes, Griffiths replied: “I think the honest answer is, performance is the number one for anyone.

“If you get performances, most likely you get good results, and then that becomes a consistent thing.

“So I’m fully aware that this club wants results, and they want good performances, and we’ve got a strong squad, and that’s my my objective really.”
