Wanderers lock down exciting winger ahead of new A-Leagues campaign

Western Sydney Wanderers have handed attacking talent Aydan Hammond a new contract ahead of the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.

A Western Sydney local, Hammond returned to Australia ahead of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign following an eight-year stint in Portugal.

Initially signing on with the Wanderers Academy, Hammond was then integrated into the first team set-up and eventually made his A-Leagues debut in 2024, finishing the season with three senior appearances and one goal to his name.

Since that breakthrough season, Hammond has established himself further at A-League level, going on to feature in 47 matches in the A-Leagues, scoring 6 goals.

“I’m really proud to be extending my time with the Wanderers,” said Hammond after putting pen-to-paper on his new one-year deal.

“Coming back to Western Sydney and being part of this club has meant a lot to me and my family.

“I’ve grown a lot here over the past couple of seasons, from my first minutes in the A-Leagues to now having a chance to contribute more regularly and push my game forward.

“I know there’s still a lot more in me and I want to keep improving, keep helping the team, and keep making this community proud.”

Western Sydney Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said he was delighted to see Hammond commit his future to the club.

“Aydan is exactly the type of player we want representing this club. He’s a Western Sydney local who understands what this badge means, and he brings a real hunger every time he steps on the pitch,” said Impiombato.

“We’ve seen his growth firsthand since arriving back from overseas, from integrating into the Academy and first team environment, to being a consistent A-League contributor.

“We’re proud to have him continue his journey here and we believe his best football is still ahead of him.”
