Leo Sena’s Sydney FC contract mutually terminated after ‘incredible experience’

Sydney FC midfielder Leo Sena has departed the Isuzu UTE A-League outfit after agreeing to a mutual termination of the final year of his contract.

The former Serie A midfielder departs the Sky Blues immediately as he joins his partner at home in Brazil in the coming days following one season Down Under.

Sena joined Sydney FC ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and scored one goal across 31 appearances, helping the Harbour City club reach an historic AFC Champions League Two semi-final.

“I would like to thank Sydney FC, my teammates, the staff and especially the Members and fans for making me feel welcome during my time in Australia,” said the 29-year-old.

“It has been an incredible experience to play for such a great club and I wish everyone at Sydney FC the very best for the future.”

The Sky Blues, though, have brought in Al Hassan ToureRhys YoulleyAkol AkonPaul Okon-Engstler and Marcel Tisserand, while re-signing Gus HoefslootAlex GrantWataru KamijoRhyan Grant and Mathias Macallister.

Head Coach Ufuk Talay added: “We are very appreciative of the role he played in our squad last season.

“He moves on now with our gratitude and we wish him well as he takes the next step in his career.”
