Sydney FC have officially confirmed two of their longest serving players are set to leave the Isuzu UTE A-League club with midfielder Max Burgess and forward Jaiden Kucharski both departing.
The exit of Burgess and Kucharski from Sydney was announced along with mid-season signing Jaushua Sotirio, who leaves following the expiration of his short-term contract with the Sky Blues.
Sotirio, Burgess and Kucharski’s respective departures follow the previously-confirmed exits of iconic goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne and on-loan Polish striker Patryk Klimala from the club.
A graduate of the Sky Blues’ academy, creative midfielder Burgess leaves having amassed 97 Isuzu UTE A-League matches for the club as well as featuring in plenty more games in both the Australia Cup and Asian competitions.

The 30-year-old found game time hard to come by during the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season as he featured just three times in the league, and now departs following the conclusion of his current contract.
“It’s been an incredible honour to play for my boyhood club and to wear the Sky Blue jersey,” said Burgess.
“From my early days in the youth team to running out in front of our amazing Members and fans at Allianz Stadium, I’ve enjoyed so many great moments and created memories that will last a lifetime.
He continued: “I would like to thank the club, my teammates, staff, and particularly the Members and fans for all of their support.
“I’ll always be proud to have worn this shirt, and I wish the club every success in the future.”

Also searching for a new opportunity away from Allianz Stadium will be fellow academy graduate Kucharski, who leaves the club following the expiration of his contract.
The 22-year-old featured in 24 matches throughout the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season however those appearances came largely from the bench and as such the versatile forward will now be looking to play more minutes elsewhere.

“Sydney FC has been such a big part of my life – as a fan, as a player coming through the Academy, and as a professional,” Kucharski said.
“I was a Member and part of The Cove growing up, so to wear the Sky Blue and score important goals for this club was a dream come true.
“I’ve made lifelong friends and incredible memories and I’ll always look back on my time here with a great deal of fondness.
“I want to thank everyone at the club and all of the amazing fans, and I wish Sydney FC all the best for the future.”
