Football Federation Australia (FFA) and NAB, together with Adelaide United are proud to announce Stefan Mauk as the February nominee for the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award.
The nomination is Mauk’s first ever nomination for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award.
Mauk, has been in red hot form since transferring back to his hometown club, Adelaide United, from Melbourne City FC in January and was humbled to learn of his nomination.
“It’s a great privilege to be nominated as this month’s rising star, said Mauk.
“There’s plenty of exciting other young players nominated so far this year, including Alex Gersbach, who’s recently gone overseas, and Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borello, who we just played against.
“Coming into a new team, I’ve been really excited to be playing here and I’ve been trying to show my new teammates and our coaching staff what I can do and I guess having the good run of results that we’ve had has helped too.
“There’s always areas of improvement from now until the end of the season and hopefully I can keep my spot in the starting XI and even improve on the five goals that I’ve scored so far this season.”” Mauk said.
Mauk is the fifth player to be nominated for the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award, joining Brandon Borrello (October nominee), Sydney FC left back Alex Gersbach (November nominee), Jamie Maclaren (December Nominee) and Dimitri Petratos (January Nominee).
The Hyundai A-League NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 will be announced at the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League 2015/16 Awards Night on Tuesday 26 April 2016.
Ann-Marie Chamberlain, Chair of NAB’s State Leadership Council SA/NT said she is delighted to see the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award continue to unearth the stars of tomorrow.
“We congratulate Stefan on his nomination and look forward to watching his development and growth on the football field in the years to come,” said Ms. Chamberlain.
“We are also pleased to recognise Stefan‘s nominated junior club, Adelaide City, and hope that our support will help the club to continue developing the game at a local grassroots level.”
NAB has generously donated a $1,500 equipment pack and $1,000 in a NAB Community Saver Account to Stefan’s nominated junior club.
The overall winner of the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award will receive a $10,000 personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.
“As a supporter of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, we are proud to play an important role in identifying and rewarding the future stars of the game. Who knows, we may even see some of the nominees donning the boots for the Socceroos in the future,” Ms. Chamberlain continued.
Each month representatives from the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-23 players in the Hyundai A-League during that period.
