Opta Data have all the stats ahead of Round 23 of the Hyundai A-League and there’s some interesting statistical talking points for all five matches.
Melbourne Victory v Central Coast Mariners
*Melbourne Victory hasn’t lost at home to Central Coast since November 2009 and are looking to record a fourth successive league win over the Mariners for the first time in Hyundai A-League history.
*Central Coast has scored in each of their last seven trips to Melbourne to face Victory, but have only been on the winning side twice (D3 L2).
*Victory striker Besart Berisha has scored 11 goals this season, as many as he managed last campaign for Brisbane Roar, but crucially has five more assists. The Albanian has netted four goals in his last five Hyundai A-League games against Central Coast.
*Victory are one of three sides yet to receive a red card this campaign (Wellington and Adelaide are the other two).
*The Mariners Liam Reddy has conceded more goals than any other keeper this Hyundai A-League season (34) but has also made the most saves (84).
Melbourne City FC v Brisbane Roar FC
*City has won three of their last four against Brisbane in the Hyundai A-League, losing the other.
*Brisbane has lost each of their last four away Hyundai A-League games against City, failing to score in the last two and have never kept a clean sheet in six away games against them.
*None of the last eight Hyundai A-League games between these two has ended in a draw (five wins for City, three for Roar).
*City is unbeaten in seven Hyundai A-League matches at AAMI Park, a run which began with a win over the Roar (W5 D2).
Perth Glory v Western Sydney Wanderers FC
*Perth’s win over the Wanderers in November ended a run of six Hyundai A-League matches against them without a win (D1 L5).
*Western Sydney has never failed to score against the Glory in seven previous Hyundai A-League clashes.
*Perth is yet to win at nib Stadium this calendar year, having recorded eight successive wins prior to that.
*No player has more assists this Hyundai A-League season than Glory’s Nebosja Marinkovic (8).
Wellington Phoenix v Sydney FC
*Wellington Phoenix has won six of their last seven Hyundai A-League home games against Sydney FC, including playoffs (L1).
*Sydney FC’s last clean sheet in Wellington came in December 2009, failing to shut out the Nix in any of their last seven visits.
*Phoenix has conceded just seven home goals at home this campaign, a league-low.
*The Sky Blues are the only Hyundai A-League side yet to taste defeat away from home this season (W6 D4), winning each of the last four.
Newcastle Jets v Adelaide United
*Newcastle’s 7-0 defeat at Adelaide in January was their heaviest in Hyundai A-League history. However, the Jets have lost only one of their last six home games against United (W4 D1).
*Newcastle’s only home win this Hyundai A-League season came against Adelaide in December (D4 L5).
*Adelaide’s last three away games have ended in defeat, they’ve never lost four successively in the same season before.
*Four Adelaide players have netted six goals this season (Bruce Djite, Sergio Cirio, Marcelo Carrusca, Pablo Sanchez). No Newcastle player has more than three goals to his name.
