And then, there were four.
The Matildas will face England in the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, after the Lionesses defeated Colombia 2-1 at Stadium Australia on Saturday night.
England came from behind to beat the South American nation, cancelling out an audacious opening goal from Leicy Santos via Lauren Hemp’s equaliser just before the break, before Alessia Russo completed the turnaround in the second half.
England followed Australia into the semi-finals after the Matildas’ dramatic penalty shootout win over France at Brisbane Stadium earlier on Saturday; the two teams will return to Stadium Australia to face off on Wednesday, August 16.
Spain and Sweden will face off in the other semi-final at Eden Park in Auckland on Tuesday, August 15 (6.00pm AEST kick-off).
