All the evidence points to this being a one-sided affair but dig a little deeper and viewers of this week-s televised match could be in for an intriguing afternoon. Adelaide may still be seeking to end a lengthy winless run, which now stretches across three seasons, but history may provide some comfort. The last team to fall to Adelaide was Sydney FC in season one at the same Hindmarsh Stadium.
Adelaide-s home form this season has been erratic and started with a 4-1 capitulation against a rampant Canberra United, however champions Brisbane Roar were fortunate to escape the City of Churches will all three points a fortnight ago. Coach Dave Edmondson had a full squad last week for the first time since Round 1, following the return of his Australia U-17 contingent and the New Zealander will be expecting to see more cohesion this week.
Sydney-s star-studded squad will sparkle even more this weekend with the return of ace goal-poacher Leena Khamis from a productive stint in Denmark. The Sky Blues turned in arguably the performance of the season a fortnight ago but, ominously for Adelaide, coach Alen Stajcic says his charges will develop further still. One possible hurdle to overcome for the Sydneysiders is rustiness following the bye last weekend.

This match-up between two teams that have suddenly found red-hot goalscoring form should have Brisbane-based Westfield W-League fans salivating. Both had hat-trick heroines last weekend with Tameka Butt bagging a treble in the Roar-s 5-2 win at Perth Glory, while youngster Caitlin Friend did likewise as the Victory routed Adelaide 4-0 at home.
Just a point separates the pair on the table making this contest a genuine six-pointer. Defeat for either team would just about put Canberra out of reach even at this juncture; the halfway mark of the season. In the last home outing Brisbane fell 3-2 when victory appeared on the cards, only for the x-factor that is Lisa De Vanna to make the difference for the visiting Newcastle Jets. But for that late turnaround, the Roar would have claimed three wins on the trot. Now with Aivi Luik and Kim Carroll back in the ranks after their stint overseas, the champions are starting to take on a familiar and settled look.
The Victory for their part are on a high after their 4-0 demolition of Adelaide last weekend; an equal club record scoreline. Last weekend-s win may prove to be somewhat of a breakthrough moment for the Victory after years of struggle in front of goal. It seems the Victory have this season moved up a notch with last weekend-s win following somewhat unlucky 2-1 defeats against competition elite in the form of Sydney FC and Canberra United.

This is shaping as somewhat of a must-win for both teams, albeit for differing reasons. The previously high-flying Jets will be desperate to arrest a slide which has seen them suffer consecutive humbling defeats. The Glory for their part will be desperate for three points if they harbour ambitions of staying in touch with the frontrunners and competing in finals football.
The Jets will be buoyed a return to their Adamstown Oval home where the Novocastrian support has been first class. The Jets though will have to put behind them a disastrous loss at home a fortnight ago against Sydney and a muted showing in Canberra last weekend. As always Lisa De Vanna-s form will be a key factor and the Matildas star will surely be primed to make an impact against her former club following an unusually low key showing in the nation-s capital.
This contest will be a tough ask for the Glory who face a challenging journey from the west; arduous even by their standards. Coach Jamie Harnwell will hope to have Norway international Lisa-Marie Woods available to make her club debut. Up front the potent attacking prowess of another import, New Zealander Emma Kete, could prove crucial if the visitors are to return with any of the spoils.
