Victory’s finals hopes were officially ended last weekend after their draw in Sydney against the Wanderers.
But they have the chance to dent Sydney FC’s Premiership and top-two hopes in this Australia Day clash at AAMI Park.
The Sky Blues are unbeaten in seven games, are fresh off a weekend’s break due to the bye and have their big guns in form.
An easy win for Sydney FC? Unlikely, as battles between the teams from Victoria and NSW are always keenly contested.
Canberra United v Newcastle Jets
There is so much at stake for both of these sides in the nation’s capital.
Canberra, coming off their eight-goal thriller against Glory last weekend, will jump into the top four with a win.
In fact, United will go as high as third with a win.
Meanwhile, the Jets will book their finals spot with a win of their own, meaning it should be a ripper at McKellar Park.
Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar
The Reds have only pride to play for against the league-leaders but as we’ve seen for much of the season, they are always up for a battle.
And there’s no bigger battle in the Westfield W-League at the moment than Mel Andreatta’s side, who can all-but secure the Premiership with all three points.
With a miserly defence and a host of Westfield Matildas in their squad, it’s hard to go past the Roar in this one.
Perth Glory v Western Sydney Wanderers
A few weeks ago Glory looked assured of a finals spot. Now they have to win and rely on other results to go their way.
Sam Kerr’s scintillating form is a huge plus and if she shows the type of form we’ve become accustomed to over the last 12 months, Glory should have too much firepower for a young and gritty Wanderers side.
