Wellington Phoenix 2-1 Newcastle Jets

Ulises Davila was the man of the moment once against for Wellington as the Mexican magician set up the opener for substitute Jaushua Sotirio and then scored the winner at Sky Stadium.

A spirited performance by the visitors saw Abdiel Arroyo equalise and the Jets almost snatched a point, but for the heroics of Phoenix keeper Stefan Marinovic.

Melbourne Victory 0-3 Sydney FC

The Sydney FC juggernaut rolled on with a demolition job against Big Blue rivals Melbourne Victory, as Kosta Barbarouses returned to his own stomping ground.

The Kiwi was among the scorers, along with Adam Le Fondre and Alex Baumjohann, before the German and Leigh Broxham both saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

Central Coast Mariners 0-1 Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar extended their unbeaten Hyundai A-League streak over the Mariners to 17 with a clutch 1-0 victory on the road.

Both sides looked set to share the points before a late goal settled the score in Brisbane’s favour, leaving Alen Stajcic’s side languishing in tenth position and helping the Roar surge into finals contention.

Melbourne City 0-0 Perth Glory

It had all the makings of a high-scoring affair, but as often is the case in football this game didn’t go exactly to script.

The contest between the Hyundai A-League’s second and third sides ended goalless as both City and Glory battled for ascendancy but ultimately neither team could break the deadlock and steal maximum points.

Western United 3-4 Adelaide United

Adelaide United fought off a staunch comeback from Western United to record a clutch win in what can only be described as the game of the season.

Four goals were scored in the opening 20 minutes as Adelaide created a two-goal lead thanks to a brace from Nikola Milesnic and an 18th-minute strike from Riley McGree sandwiched between a goal to Besart Berisha which gave Western hope of a comeback.

Berisha struck once more before half-time before Western’s midfield maestro Alessandro Diamanti popped up with an equaliser in the second stanza, but Adelaide went on to have the last laugh when Nathan Konstandopoulos came off the bench to score a late winner, putting Adelaide up 4-3 in an enthralling contest at Whitten Oval.
