Excitement is building ahead of the start of the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season, with just three weeks to go until the opening match of the new campaign.
And if the first 10 seasons of the competition is anything to go by, then this campaign is sure to provide plenty of highlights and memorable moments.
Westfield W-League fans have been treated to a number of great moments since the inaugural season of the competition back in 2008.

ROAR SIGN SIX: Westfield Matildas star among a host of homegrown signings
We’ve picked out some of the competition’s greatest moments from the last decade.
Sam Kerr’s seven-minute hat-trick
With the Westfield Matildas star confirming on Thursday she’s back for the 2018/19 campaign, it’s hard to go past one of her many incredible performances in the competition.
Kerr was the Westfield W-League’s leading scorer in 2017/18 with 13 goals, including an incredible hat-trick against Newcastle Jets in Round 8.
The forward scored goals in the 77th, 82nd and 84th minutes to complete a devastating treble in Perth Glory’s thrilling 3-3 draw with the Hunter Valley club.
Kerr is one of just three players – along with Tameka Butt and Michelle Heyman – to have scored three hat-tricks in the Westfield W-League.
Westfield W-League’s global recognition as Roar keeper voted world’s best
Brisbane Roar pulled off a huge coup in 2013, signing two-time German Women’s World Cup winner and star goalkeeper Nadine Angerer.
And during her time in Brisbane, the then 35-year-old created a slice of history by taking out the FIFA Women’s Player of the Year in 2013.
Angerer was the first keeper to win the prestigious award, crowned at a glitzy ceremony in Zurich alongside men’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Showing her commitment to Roar, Angerer returned to Australia a couple of days later and played the top-of-the-table clash against Sydney FC.
Gill’s high five in Sydney’s west
Glory striker Kate Gill had a day to remember in October 2014 as her Perth side had too much firepower for Western Sydney Wanderers as they surged to a 10-1 win.
And Gill was the chief destroyer scoring an incredible five goals in the thumping win.
The Auckland-born attacker’s five-star performance remains the record most goals in a game by an individual and is still one of the most dominant displays in Westfield W-League history.
City’s stunning three-peat
Melbourne City have been a powerhouse of the Westfield W-League since entering the competition three years ago and created history last season.
After sneaking into the finals in fourth place in the final round of the regular season, City beat Premiers Brisbane Roar in the semis before winning the championship with a 2-0 win over Sydney FC in the decider.
Not only did City become the first Westfield W-League side to win a third title, but all three of those championships have come in successive years.
Khamis creates Westfield W-League history
October 25, 2008 is when the Westfield W-League officially got underway with a triple-header of matches right around the country.
And the first of those games came in the west as Perth Glory hosted one of the competition favourites in Sydney FC.
It took just six minutes for the competition’s first goal to be scored, with Sky Blues striker Leena Khamis the player to get her name on the scoresheet.
Khamis added a second just two minutes later as Sydney FC won the opening game 4-0 on the way to a fourth-placed finish in the inaugural season.
