Central Coast coach Lawrie McKinna faces one of the toughest decisions of his Mariners career ahead of Sunday’s Hyundai A-League showdown against Wellington at Gosford.
McKinna must decide who will start in goals with superstar shot-stopper Mark Bosnich and Danny Vukovic both battling for a start.
Bosnich is confident he will be fit after recovering from a hamstring injury, while Vukovic is back from the toughest period of his young career.
Vukovic made his long awaited return from suspension as the Mariners beat Melbourne in the National Youth League on Saturday.
And Bosnich wants to end his stint with the Mariners with a final appearance in front of Central Coast supporters.
Both are desperate to play in the match against the New Zealanders, but McKinna is not expected to confirm which goalkeeper he will start with until later in the week.
“I’ll see how they both train before deciding which way to go,” McKinna said.
“This is a crucial game for us, it’s a game we need to win.”
Vukovic started the first two Hyundai A-League matches of the season before his five-game suspension kicked in.
Bosnich then took centre stage and has performed very well.
After such a long lay-off some suggested his return to top-flight action would end in disappointment.
But Bosnich has done everything asked of him during his time at the Mariners and is desperate to go out on a high.
