To celebrate 10 years of the Westfield W-League, we are giving fans the chance to select a Team of the Decade composed of the best the competition has ever seen.
We’ve undertaken the tough task of settling on a shortlist of players to fill out the team in a 4-3-3 formation.
Read on for the 10 midfielders in contention and get voting at the bottom of the page!
Sally Shipard
May have retired at 26 but canny central-midfielder Shipard still found time to leave a lasting impression on the competition. Won the Julie Dolan Medal in 2012 after helping Canberra United to the championship.
Teresa Polias
The heart and soul of Sydney FC. Polias has spent almost eight seasons as the general of the Sky Blues’ engine room having started out at Central Coast Mariners.
Elise Kellond-Knight
Made her name at full-back but it’s in midfield where the composed left-footer become an artful deep-lying playmaker for Brisbane Roar.
Tameka Butt
Goals from midfield are key and nobody has scored more than Butt. On target in each of the first four Grand Finals.
Heather Garriock
The versatile and classy Garriock was a national team star long before the Westfield W-League and put that experience to excellent use at Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Jess Fishlock
A human highlight reel. Wales star Fishlock is equally adept at the simple and the spectacular and remains the major drawcard at a star-studded Melbourne City.
Emily van Egmond
Rose to a new level to be named Player of the Year in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. How Newcastle Jets must be delighted to have their star back.
Katrina Gorry
Has the Westfield W-League ever seen a bigger threat from distance? Became the face of hometown club Brisbane Roar after spells at Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory.
Collette McCallum
Alanna Kennedy called her “one of the best” in terms of technique and it’s impossible to argue. The perfect role model for young players during her six years at Perth Glory.
Kylie Ledbrook
It’s testament to Ledbrook’s quality that she’s stepped so seamlessly back into the Westfield W-League after several years away. Creative and with a nose for goal.
