Newcastle Jets have announced the appointment of Tain Drinkwater as the club’s Chief Executive Officer.
Born and raised in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Drinkwater arrives at the club after stints as Netball New South Wales CEO and NRLW CEO for the Brisbane Broncos, having most recently served as Executive General Manager – Performance and Pathways with the National Rugby League.
Drinkwater’s appointment brings Maverick Sports Partners Executive Director Maurice Bisetto’s stint as interim CEO of the Jets to an end; Bisetto had been operating in the interim role since the departure of former CEO Shane Mattiske in November, 2024.
Upon her return to Newcastle, Drinkwater expressed her excitement at leading the club into the future, with her tenure as Jets CEO set to begin on May 1st.
“I am excited to return to Newcastle and lead the Newcastle Jets,” Drinkwater said.
“The Club has a deep history across Newcastle and the Hunter, and we want to be a football Club that is the pride of our region.
“I am looking forward to spending time in the community and with our partners to build greater connection to the Club and with the support of Maverick Sports Partners, we are committed to the long-term success of the Jets with the ambition of becoming one of the leading sporting organisations in Australia.”
