Sekulovski stays at Glory

Perth Glory have extended midfielder Naum Sekulovski’s stay at the club by an extra two years after both parties agreed to terms on Thursday.

Perth was impressed with the 26-year-old’s ability to hold down the left back position last campaign and duly secured his services until the end of the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League season.

“Last season was a real positive for me, I enjoyed playing at left back and think it’s a position that I can make my own and hopefully that will also assist the team to reach the finals next season,” said Sekulovski, who has been with the Glory since its entry into the Hyundai A-League.

“Being able to play in a position consistently was beneficial for me and I always got the backing of ‘Mitch’ (coach Dave Mitchell) and the other coaches which helped the transition to left back.”

Mitchell forecast Sekulovski as being an integral part of the team’s defensive four after being played in a variety of roles in his time with Perth.

“Naum has been shipped all over the place in the past but I’ve said to him that I want him in the left back position and we’ll work with him over the pre-season to ensure he continues to develop into that important role for the club,” Mitchell said.

“He showed some excellent signs last season and will only get better with the more time he spends playing there.”

“Naum is passionate about the club and gives his all at training and in games and I’m pleased that he’ll be around for the next couple of seasons.”

The Glory have also signed up young defender Scott Neville for the next three seasons.

Neville was one of the best performers for Perth’s National Youth League team and impressed enough in four senior appearances late in the season to win a contract.

“Scott came into the squad and stepped up to the plate straight away and I have no doubt he’ll be able to continue to develop and will be a real asset for Perth Glory,” Mitchell said.
