Newcastle Jets have signed 18-year-old Australian youth international Richard Nkomo on a scholarship contract for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
The former Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers academy member has represented the nation at both Under-17 and Under-18 level, and played for the CommBank Joeys at the UEFA Friendship Cup 2025 in Switzerland, and the 2023 AFC Under-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Nkomo joins the Jets after a stint at the Wanderers and, according to new Jets head coach and former Socceroos captain Mark Milligan, the teenage full-back is one to watch in the near future, having been earmarked by the club as a player capable of making big strides forward in 2025-26.
“Richie is a player our staff has been monitoring for some time,” Milligan said. “He is a powerful left-back with the ability to get forward.
“Richie fits the football we want to play, and even though he is still very young, I feel that he will be able to have an impact sooner rather than later.
“Richie has shown great growth through pre-season, and we are excited to continue to work with him in future development.”

Nkomo is the sixth new arrival at the Jets this off-season, joining Alex Badolato, Max Burgess, Joe Shaughnessy, James Delianov and Joel Bertolissio at the club ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
