Big names such as Tameka Butt and Ash Sykes were in prolific form in front of goal during Round 11, but it is Sam Kerr who still heads the charge.
The Perth Glory captain and Westfield Matildas captain netted for a fifth match in succession during her side’s dramatic 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory. That goal lifted Kerr to nine goals, one clear of rival Natasha Dowie of Melbourne Victory,.
But it was Brisbane Roar’s Tameka Butt who was the star of the weekend. The second-highest scorer in Westfield W-League history lifted her season tally to five thanks to a sparkling treble against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Two behind Dowie are Canberra United’s Ash Sykes and newly-appointed Melbourne City player/coach Jess Fishlock, who both netted on the weekend.
Sykes scored a double for Canberra in their 2-2 draw against Adelaide United to continue a remarkable run of form, which has now reaped five goals in four matches.
