Canberra United jumped in the Ninja A-League’s top six, albeit provisionally, after defeating Perth Glory 2-1 at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
First-half goals from CommBank Matildas and A-Leagues legend Michelle Heyman and Mary Stanic-Floody helped Canberra to their first win over Glory in Perth since 2016 on Saturday night.
Tijan McKenna reduced the deficit in the second half but Canberra held on to snap their six-match winless streak as the capital club leapfrogged Brisbane Roar into sixth position, while 10th-placed Perth saw their three-game undefeated run ended in a blow to their finals hopes.

There were concerning scenes early in the match when Natalie Tathem hurt her knee in innocuous circumstances. Glory team-mate and nurse Casey Dumont rushed to provide assistance, with the midfielder later substituted.
Not long after, Canberra hit the front on the road.
Heyman found herself in space having been released by Stanic-Floody and the legendary striker slotted the ball past Dumont in the 16th minute.
It was 2-0 for Canberra five minutes later. This time it was Stanic-Floody who was on the scoresheet after converting a penalty.

Canberra had the chance to move three goals clear but Bethany Gordon skied her 50th-minute penalty over the crossbar.
That left the door open for Perth, who found themselves back in the contest when McKenna guided her half-volley into the back of the net on the hour.
Glory huffed and puffed but Canberra held on for a drought-ending triumph.
