Meanwhile Western Sydney Wanderers hosted A-Leagues rivals Melbourne Victory in a thrilling encounter at Marconi Stadium that was settled by penalties.heir Australia Cup campaign in Western Australia against Bayswater City.

Brisbane Roar 2-4 Sydney FC
Sydney FC have booked their place in the Australia Cup quarter-finals after edging Brisbane Roar 4-2 in a six-goal thriller at Spencer Park.
The Sky Blues made a flying start, opening the scoring inside two minutes when Takahiro Sekine headed home from Ben Garuccio’s cross to bag his second goal in Sydney FC colours.
Sydney doubled their advantage in the 25th minute; Garuccio producing a stunning dipping volley that flew over the head of Dean Bouzanis and into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
The game looked to be done and dusted before half-time when young star Tiago Quintal bagged his fourth goal in two games to make it 3-0 but the Brisbane Roar comeback was initiated by Jordan Lauton in first-half stoppage time.
Roar piled on the pressure in the second half and forced a second into the back of the net as Sydney FC defender Alexandar Popovic inadvertently turned the ball past goalkeeper Gus Hoefsloot.
Brisbane continued to search for an equaliser but Sydney held firm before sealing the result in the dying stages as Gabriel Popovic converted to make it 4-2 and seal Sydney FC’s spot in the quarter-finals, where they’ll now face SD Raiders or Macarthur Bulls.
Western Sydney Wanderers 1-1 Melbourne Victory

On Saturday night Melbourne Victory booked their spot in the Australia quarter-finals after edging the Wanderers in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Both sides had chances to take the lead during normal time but the deadlock was eventually broken early in extra time, with striker Harrison Sawyer converting from close range to make it 1-0 in the 96th minute.
A ball from the right caused chaos inside the Wanderers penalty area, with Charles Nduka rattling the crossbar before substitute Harrison Sawyer reacted quickest to fire home from close range.
The Wanderers hit back just five minutes later through Nicolas Milanovic, who bagged his first goal since returning to the club, bending a stunning free-kick into the back of the net to send the home crowd wild.
With neither side able to find a late winner the game then went to penalties and it was Victory keeper Jack Duncan who proved himself to be the hero, saving penalties from Dylan Scicluna, Awan Lual and Alex Gersbach to seal a dramatic shootout victory and send Melbourne Victory into the next round.
