The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Barry Such (Chair), Simon Micallef and Alan Davidson – convened to consider the following incidents from Week 17 of the Hyundai A-League:

The incident involving Travis Dodd (Adelaide United) in or around the 84th minute of Adelaide United-s match against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as the player was issued with a direct red card. The MRP firstly considered an Obvious Error (Red Card) Application by the player. The Obvious Error Application was upheld and, accordingly, the Red Card is expunged from the record of the player and he is not required to serve a sanction.

The incident involving Ricki Herbert (Wellington Phoenix) in or around the 92nd minute of the Wellington Phoenix vs. Adelaide United match on Sunday afternoon. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as the official was expelled from the match by the Referee. The MRP found that Ricki Herbert had committed an offence, namely “Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures against a match official” – and has proposed a sanction of three (3) matches. The minimum for this offence under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations is one (1) match. The Wellington team official has until 12.00pm (AEDT) tomorrow, 7 December, 2010, to accept the proposed sanction or refer the matter to a hearing by the FFA Disciplinary Committee.
