Former Scotland striker Steven Naismith will take charge of Hearts for the last seven games of the season, where four Australian players are in the ranks.
Naismith takes over following the sacking of Robbie Neilson and the subsequent departure of assistant manager Lee McCulloch.
Socceroos Nathaniel Atkinson, Kye Rowles, Cammy Devlin and Garang Kuol, who is on loan from Premier League side Newcastle, all play for the Edinburgh club.
Hearts slipped to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership on the back of four consecutive league losses, resulting in Neilson’s departure at the weekend.
Chief executive Andrew McKinlay said in a statement: “I am delighted to say that Steven Naismith has agreed to take over as interim manager until the end of the season.
“Steven has played the game at the highest level possible, and has taken great strides forward in his coaching career with the club’s B Team and at international level with Scotland.”
Naismith’s clubs included Rangers and Everton, and he won 51 caps for Scotland. He finished his playing career at Hearts two years ago.
