Brisbane captain Craig Moore has challenged the Roar to stand up for Saturday’s match against Central Coast at Suncorp Stadium.
The Roar have only picked up two points from their opening three matches this year and Moore has urged the team to start turning draws into wins.
“This is the time you need players to stand up, to put in the big performances and work hard,” he said.
“So it was more a message in getting that across and to make sure that we continue to work hard.”
“If we do that I’m sure things will turn and we-ll start to get the results.”
“I’m confident with the players we’ve got here that that’s just a matter of time, but you need to make sure the basics are there.”
Brisbane let a two-goal lead slip in the 3-3 draw in Melbourne in Round 2 and conceded a late equaliser last Sunday at home to Wellington.
Moore couldn’t explain how the Roar had let two leads go to waste, but is confident that the team can turn things around with hard work
“Winning is a habit and also when you go on a losing run unfortunately at times it’s something that does for certain teams become a habit,” he said.
“We don’t want that to be the case here, we want to get into good habits and start to pick up points fairly quickly.”
“I think the last couple of weeks have been tough ones to take in terms of being in winning positions and letting the game slip away from us, but it’s up to ourselves to change it.”
“That doesn’t come easy, it’s hard work. If you continue to do that, you’d like to think you get more results than not and we definitely need to go out there and do that on the weekend against the Central Coast.”
Roar coach Frank Farina will watch the match from the stands after he was sent from the touchline at the end of last weekend’s match against the Phoenix.
