Melbourne Victory have sent club and league records tumbling through the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season.
Now they’re on the precipice of glory, with this Sunday’s Grand Final showdown against Central Coast Mariners offering Jeff Hopkins’ side a chance to lift the Championship trophy, and cap off a campaign unlike any other in the club’s 20-year history across both the men’s and women’s competitions.

NINJA A-LEAGUE FINALS SERIES 2025
There have, of course, been several formidable Victory squads throughout A-Leagues history who can contend for the honour of being the club’s greatest-ever side.
Victory’s men’s outfit has won three Isuzu UTE A-League Men Premierships and four Championships, and the women’s side has been similarly prolific with three Ninja A-League Women Championships and one Premiership.
As a club, Victory has accumulated the second-most domestic trophies in the A-Leagues, equal with Melbourne City and behind only Sydney FC.
The club’s 2024-25 Ninja A-League squad fell just short of the Premiership title this season, thanks to Melbourne City’s unprecedented “invincibles” campaign that saw Victory’s local rivals clinch the regular-season title – albeit by only two points.
But City’s shock Semi-Final defeat to Central Coast has paved the way for Victory to have the final say this season with a Grand Final triumph that would extend their current unbeaten streak to 16 games, equalling the club’s all-time unbeaten record set by the men’s outfit in 2021-22.

Victory’s current 15-game run without defeat has included 10 consecutive wins, including the two Semi-Final wins over Adelaide United that sealed their spot in the Grand Final. The women’s team’s previous winning record was five consecutive games, with the men’s record of seven (Rounds 1-7 in 2006-07) left way in the distance.
During that 2006-07 Isuzu UTE A-League season, Victory recorded a points-per-game tally of 2.14 – a club record. They finished first on the table with 45 points from 21 games, registered 14 wins, three draws and four losses, and went on to win the Grand Final.

This season, Victory’s women’s team notched 55 points from 23 regular-season games, winning 16 games, drawing five and losing just two.
Their 2.30 points-per-game tally eclipsed the men’s feat of 2.14 in 2006-07 to claim the all-time club record.
Victory’s 16 wins for the season were equal to that of the Premiers City; together, both sides claimed the Ninja A-League’s record for most wins in a season. Victory conceded just 21 goals in 23 games, the least of any team in the league, and kept 11 clean sheets – the most of any side.
Should Victory keep a 12th clean sheet in Sunday’s Grand Final against Central Coast Mariners, they will beat the Ninja A-League’s all-time record currently held by Victory, and equalled twice by Sydney FC in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Failure to convert this record-breaking run into a Championship triumph would deny this 2024-25 Victory squad the chance to be spoken about among the club’s best of all-time; there have been too many title-winning, trophy-laden seasons in A-Leagues history to include Jeff Hopkins’ side in the mix.
But, should they defeat the Mariners, claim the Championship trophy and equal the club’s all-time unbeaten record of 16 games – a record set by the men’s side in a season that ended without any silverware – the statistics set, records broken and accomplishments of this Victory team will make it difficult to argue any other way.
Everything will be decided on Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss it.
