Melbourne City star called into Matildas squad for international friendlies

Melbourne City star Leah Davidson has been called into the CommBank Matildas squad ahead of a pair of international friendlies against South Korea.

Davidson has been drafted in as an injury replacement for Matildas star Katrina Gorry, who medically withdrew from Australia’s 23-player squad.

This will be Davidson’s second camp with the Matildas after debuting in December last year.

The 24-year-old joins City team-mate Holly McNamara in the squad, with Tom Sermanni’s Australia due to face South Korea in Sydney on Friday before Monday’s showdown in Newcastle.

Davidson has continued to flourish in the Ninja A-League this season.

She has made 18 league appearances for unbeaten reigning premiers City, starting in 16 of those matches and playing a crucial role in the team’s success in pursuit of an invincible campaign.
