Ins & Outs, Elimination Finals: Reds star makes timely return, captain survives injury scare

BLOCKBUSTER Elimination Finals & Melbourne City Win Premiers Plate | Dub Zone Ep. 23

The teams are IN ahead of two blockbuster Elimination Finals set to kick off the 2024-25 Ninja A-League Finals Series.

Adelaide United play host to Western United at Coopers Stadium in one of two knockout fixtures this weekend, and the Reds are set to welcome back star striker Chelsie Dawber from a three-week injury absence.

Dawber missed Adelaide’s last two games of the regular season with a glute injury; her return provides head coach Adrian Stenta with the chance to reunite Dawber with Fiona Worts and Erin Healy in a dangerous three-pronged attack.

There is a dose of bad news for the Reds, however, with young defender Zoe Tolland ruled out with a hamstring injury suffered against Sydney FC in the final round of the season. Tolland has played more than 2,000 match minutes for the Reds this season, the second-most of any player in the Adelaide squad.

Western United travel to face the Reds bolstered by the inclusion of captain Chloe Berryhill (née Logarzo) in Kat Smith’s extended squad. Berryhill suffered a cork in the final round of the season but has been named by Smith ahead of the knockout clash.

Central Coast Mariners host Canberra United at Industre Group Stadium in the second Elimination Final of the weekend. Mariners coach Emily Husband has added Greta Kraszula and Tess Quilligan and Lily McMahon to an otherwise unchanged squad for the home knockout clash.

Canberra boss Antoni Jagarinec has also added three players to his extended squad, with Jaya Bowman, Janet King and Tegan Bertolissio set to make the trip to Gosford.

Read on for all the team news ahead of both Elimination Finals in the Ninja A-League.
