SIZZLING VICTORY HIT FOUR PAST REDS
English goal-machine Natasha Dowie became Victory’s all-time leading goalscorer with a brace as her side crushed Adelaide 4-0 at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday.
Dowie netted in either half with South Korean international Jeon Ga-eul and Lia Privitelli finding the net in the opening stanza as Victory powered past the Reds.
SKY BLUES TOO GOOD FOR WANDERERS
Remy Siemsen’s two goals in three first half minutes helped Sydney FC to a 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Derby on Saturday.
At ANZ Stadium, Siemsen was on hand to tap in an opener after 21 minutes and followed it up with a superb curling strike to make it 2-0 three minutes later.
Playing before the Hyundai A-League Sydney Derby, Ellie Brush got the Wanderers back in the contest with a penalty on 40 minutes before Lisa De Vanna made it 3-1 to the Sky Blues after pouncing on a mistake by the Wanderers keeper on 62 minutes.
FISHLOCK FIRES CITY PAST CANBERRA
Welsh international Jess Fishlock netted a well-taken brace to fire City to a 2-1 win over Canberra United at AAMI Park on Sunday.
Fishlock netted the opener on 20 minutes before United levelled proceedings two minutes later with Matildas star Michelle Heyman punishing a horror error from City keeper Lydia Williams.
But it was to be City’s day with Fishlock popping up with just over 10 minutes remaining to fire the hosts to a much-needed three points.
JETS SOAR PAST ROAR
Brisbane had the chance to take the outright competition lead but were blown away by a rampant Jets outfit with American Arin Gilliland netting a hat-trick.
The import netted all three goals in the first half as Newcastle racked up an impressive 3-0 win on Sunday evening at A.J Kelly Park.
