Canberra United knocked Perth Glory out of finals contention while Brisbane Roar confirmed their spot in the top four with an entertaining draw against Melbourne City.

WANDERERS, VICTORY ALL SQUARE
A couple of cracking goals in each half were the highlights of Friday night’s 1-1 draw between Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.
16-year-old Susan Phonsongkham gave the Wanderers the lead midway through the first half with a lofted shot from distance which deceived Victory keeper Casey Dumont.
Not to be outdone, Victory star Natasha Dowie ensured the spoils would be shared with a powerful strike from the edge of the box which nestled into the top corner.
CANBERRA FIGHTBACK ENDS GLORY’S FINALS HOPES
Perth Glory coach Bobby Despotovski all but conceded his side’s Westfield W-League finals hopes are gone following an incredible 4-4 draw with Canberra United on Saturday.
Glory ran out to a 3-0 lead inside the opening 22 minutes – with Sam Kerr netting twice – before a quick-fire double from Canberra’s Ash Sykes reduced the deficit.
Kerr completed her hat-trick on the stroke of half-time to make it 4-2 before Canberra scored again moments later to set up a thrilling second half.
Elise Thorsnes equalised for Canberra 15 minutes after the break and that proved to be the end of the scoring as the two teams played out an eight-goal thriller.
ROAR EXTEND LEAD AT THE TOP
Brisbane Roar booked their spot in the Westfield W-League Finals Series following an entertaining 0-0 draw with Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
Brisbane are now three points clear of second-placed Sydney FC, while City’s finals hopes remain in the balance.
City’s Rhali Dobson went closest to opening the scoring with 20 minutes remaining but her stretched effort struck the post.
There was a late shout for a penalty but Brisbane survived thanks in large part to Claire Polkinghorne who was immense throughout.
