Central Coast Mariners snapped an 11-game winless run with a deserved 1-0 over Wellington Phoenix in Gosford on Friday night.
Attacking midfielder Daniel De Silva guided home the decisive goal moments before the break.Phoenix failed to impress though they made a late charge with key striker Roy Krishna hitting the bar.
Brisbane Roar FC 0-1 Newcastle Jets
Newcastle Jets substitute Joey Champness hit a late winner as Ernie Merrick’s high-flyers defeated Brisbane Roar FC 1-0 at Suncorp on Saturday.
Both keepers were in fine form throughout an entertaining clash in humid conditions, but it was the former Roar youth team striker who broke Brisbane hearts with a lovely finish after 79 minutes.
In a positive for the Roar, returning fan-favourite Henrique showed glimpses of his best in a 20-minute cameo.
Melbourne Victory 3-0 Adelaide United
Two first-half goals to Melbourne Victory laid the platform for an emphatic 3-0 win over a 10-man Adelaide United on Saturday night at AAMI Park.
An own goal to Taylor Regan set the Big V on their way before Leroy George netted a stunning free-kick to make it 2-0.
For the Reds, after just nine minutes of the second half, half-time substitute Džengis Čavušević saw red.
And it proved costly, with Besart Berisha tapping in a third just four minutes later as Victory cruised to an easy win.
Perth Glory 2-1 Melbourne City FC
Perth Glory scored a 97th-minute winner to defeat a 10-man Melbourne City FC 2-1 on Saturday night at nib Stadium.
City played the last 25 minutes with 10 men after defender Bart Schenkeveld was dismissed for a second yellow.
And it was former City player Neil Kilkenny who hit the equaliser for Perth after 84 minutes following Daniel Arzani’s beautifully crafted opener just on the break.
Then in the 97th minute, substitute Adam Taggart headed a winner to send the crowd into raptures.
Sydney FC 3-1 Western Sydney Wanderers
Sydney FC stormed back from a goal down to defeat Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1 at a drenched Allianz Stadium on Sunday night.
In the final Sydney Derby before Allianz is knocked down, a relentless Sky Blues knocked out Wanderers with another relentless display to maintain their derby dominance over the red and black.
Wanderers profited from a blunder by Sydney FC keeper Andrew Redmayne to take an early lead.
But two excellent goals from Polish star Adrian Mierzejewski and a third from Bobo sealed Sydney’s impressive comeback win.
