Without getting too over-sentimental, seeing the all-action defender back is a wonderful sight. His display against the Wanderers on the weekend – one which earned Roux a spot in the Round 4 Team of the Week – all the more impressive given what he’s gone through over the last year with a horrendous injury. The Mariners captain on the day showed the sort of grit and quality the club is known for. Storm, take a bow.
Sydney FC invincible?
One month down, six to go. Unbeaten and unbeatable, could Sydney FC become the invincibles of the A-League? Even with some ill stars, they were too good for the Jets last weekend to make it an October to remember with a 100% record and zero goals conceded. And if the run continued into May next year – just like Arsenal’s invincible season 12 years ago – it would be an ideal tagline for the Sydney FC v Gunners friendly in the Harbour City next July.

City’s Neil Kilkenny came under fire in the media after an incident in the City v Reds game. Some didn’t like the way he reacted after a coming together in the middle of the park with Reds’ Isaias that saw the Aussie midfielder on the AAMI Park turf clutching his face.

Back to back wins and the Brisbane boys are flying again with striker Jamie Maclaren looking like his old self on Sunday. But the real test will be this Friday night when they host City. Expect the biggest home crowd of the season at Suncorp with up to 20,000 tipped.
