They are often the forgotten men in Hyundai A-League fantasy but having a reliable goalkeeper could prove to be one of the more important decisions when selecting your team.
Not only can they rack up handy points via clean sheets but it’s also a position where you can save some much needed cash to spend on players further up the pitch.
But who should you pick? We take a closer look at four quality shot-stoppers who won’t break the bank.

Michael Theo – $127,000
After an injury plagued 2015/16, Theo is back to full fitness and could edge out Jamie Young as Brisbane Roar’s first-choice gloveman.
The most successful goalkeeper in Hyundai A-League history with five titles to his name, Theo has great experience and is a steal at just $127,000.
With an experienced defence in front of him, Theo could amass plenty of points in a Roar side likely to be near the top of the ladder again this season.
Liam Reddy – $180,000
The well-travelled Reddy has found a new home in the west and will start the season as Glory’s number one.
He’s been in sparkling form in the pre-season and should be seriously considered for all fantasy squads for his ability, winning mentality and bargain value.
Has some excellent defenders in front of him as well, with the likes of Risdon, Williams, Lowry, Djulbic and Grant ensuring Perth should keep plenty of clean sheets in 2016/17.
Thomas Sorensen – $217,000
While the Dane is a bit pricier than some of his shot-stopping rivals, you get what you pay for.
Sorensen was the Hyundai A-League’s premier gloveman last season, making an incredible 103 saves in 29 appearances.
Will be even better in his second season in Australia and there’s no doubt City will tighten up their defence after last season, meaning buying Sorensen should be seriously considered.
Andrew Redmayne $ 171,000
The Wanderers boasted the second best defence in the Hyundai A-League last season and should be just as water-tight this time around.
Redmayne was a big part of their success, keeping seven clean sheets in 23 games and pulling off some spectacular stops.
Will be the Wanderers main man between the sticks again this season and is thriving under the influence of ex-Caltex Socceroo Zeljko Kalac.
