An upbeat Brett Holman has urged Brisbane Roar to look at the positives of an injury crisis which has hampered their start to the campaign.
John Aloisi’s side were without a host of senior players for their 1-1 draw away to Melbourne Victory as they finished the weekend bottom of the Hyundai A-League.
Connor O’Toole and Adam Sawyer both made their debuts in the match while Rahmat Akbari appeared as a substitute for the third time this season.
“It’s a difficult scenario but if you take the positives out of that you see some of the young boys getting a run on the weekend,” Holman told reporters on Tuesday.
“Adam Sawyer came off the bench and made his debut and I thought Connor did amazingly well at left-back.
“It’s unfortunate for the boys who are injured, but on the other hand see some of the other boys working really hard to get a chance and, to do really well, that happens in football as well.”
Holman equalised off the bench for Brisbane at Etihad Stadium and sees the battling point as evidence of a looming turnaround.
“I think if when you a go a goal down and still have that positivity to actually fight and come back in games, it shows we still believe in what we’re doing,” he said.
“Sometimes you need a good a win or a good result just to turn the page a little bit and get a little bit more positivity into the group.”
Brisbane will get another chance to do that when they welcome Melbourne City to Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
