Melbourne City have announced teenage defender Harry Shillington has signed a one-season contract extension, and will remain at the club for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 campaign.
The teenage defender joined City’s academy aged 12 and rose through the club’s ranks to make his senior debut in the 2023 Australia Cup campaign.

Yet to make an appearance in the Isuzu UTE A-League for City, Shillington is spending the off-season contributing to the club’s VPL1 campaign where City sit atop of the table after 17 games in Victoria’s second tier.
City director of football Michael Petrillo says although Shillington didn’t receive his opportunity to make his Isuzu UTE A-League debut in the club’s Championship-winning 2024-25 season, the young defender is well placed to achieve that career milestone in the next term as he continues his development.
“While Harry ultimately didn’t see A-League minutes during our Championship-winning season, he showed great progress in his development, especially after working his way back from an early-season ankle injury,” Petrillo said.
“If he maintains the same work ethic and commitment, I have no doubt he’ll be pushing strongly for senior opportunities in the season ahead.”

Shillington is the fourth player to have re-signed with the champions this off-season, joining Alessandro Lopane (2027-28), Samuel Souprayen (2025-26), Max Caputo (2027-28) in putting pen to paper on a fresh City contract.
“I learnt so much last season and it was an amazing experience to be part of such a successful squad,” Shillington said.
“I’m really happy to be back at the club for another year, and I’m focused on continuing to improve and doing everything I can to contribute on the pitch next season.”
